Skilled Labourer/Concrete Finisher

Hours of Work: 40 hours/week

Wage Range: $27.17 - $32.25/hour

Chew Excavating Ltd., a Ralmax Group of Companies, has an exciting and immediate opening for a full-time Skilled Labourer/Concrete Finisher in Victoria, BC to work with a crew performing underground installations for BC Hydro/Telus/Shaw. Responsibilities:


  • Shoveling, raking, and compacting with jumping jack and/or plate compactor
  • Saw cutting asphalt and concrete with cut-off saw
  • Assist with pouring, forming, placing, and finishing concrete
  • Assist with placing and compacting cold and hot mix asphalt
  • Operate hand and power tools
  • Adhere to prescribed safety procedures
  • Perform moderately heavy physical labor under all types of outdoor weather conditions
  • Follow oral and written instructions
  • Able and willing to receive on-the-job training to gain greater knowledge of the industry
  • Other duties as required


Qualifications:


Education and Experience


  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred
  • 3 - 5 years of skilled labourer work experience in civil/industrial construction and utilities
  • Valid class 5 BC drivers' license
  • Must be eligible to work in Canada

 

Knowledge and Skills


  • Ability to work well with others and independently
  • Ability to maintain a reliable and positive team attitude
  • Willingness to learn various types of equipment and machinery
  • Strong work ethic and the willingness to show up and learn

 

Work Conditions:

 

  • Physical ability to lift up at least 50lbs
  • Travel to off-site locations may be required
  • Safety equipment will be required, e.g. steel-toed safety boots, safety glasses/goggles, etc.
  • Overtime as required
  • Hazards associated with the trade
  • Work both indoors and outdoors
