Reporting to: Operations Manager

St. Vincent’s Bay, a Ralmax Group Company, has an exciting and immediate opening for a full-time Welder/Fabricator on the Sunshine Coast, British Columbia. The skilled Welder/Fabricator will cut and join metals, fabricate metal structural parts, and other materials at our facilities or construction sites. You will operate appropriate equipment to put together mechanical structures or parts with a great deal of precision. Your job is important as it provides the foundation for strong infrastructure. A Welder/Fabricator must be competent in working from blueprints or templates, using a scribe and hand tools, locating and marking reference lines, and using potentially dangerous equipment following all safety precautions. The ideal candidate will also have a steady hand and great attention to detail. Knowledge of different kinds of metal and their properties is essential.

  • Provide routine maintenance
  • Adhere to workplace safety policies, regulations and compliances
  • Communicate any unsafe conditions or accidents/injuries in a timely manner to the supervisor in order to facilitate prompt correction or reporting
  • Demonstrate continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality seamless customer service
  • Aligns parts in relation to each other, using jacks, turnbuckles, clips, wedges, and mauls
  • Marks location of holes to be drilled and installs temporary fasteners to hold part in place for welding
  • Installs packing, gaskets, liners, and structural accessories and members, such as doors, hatches, brackets, and clips
  • May prepare molds and templates for fabrication of nonstandard parts
  • May tack weld clips and brackets in place prior to permanent welding
  • May roll, bend, flange, cut, and shape plates, beams, and other heavy metal parts, using shop machinery, such as plate rolls, presses, bending brakes, and joggle machines
  • Other duties within scope of the position, as assigned


Education and Experience


  • Must hold a Journeyman’s certificate, or have Red Seal
  • Competition of college/CEGEP/vocational or technical training

  • W.B Welding Certification

  • Design: Knowledge of design techniques, principles, tools and instruments involved in the production and use of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models
  • Engineering and Technology: Knowledge of equipment, tools, mechanical devices, and their uses to produce motion, light, power, technology, and other applications
  • Production and Processing: Knowledge of inputs, outputs, raw materials, waste, quality control, costs, and techniques for maximizing the manufacture and distribution of goods

Work Conditions


  • Physical ability to lift up at least 50lbs
  • Travel to off-site locations may be required
  • Safety equipment will be required, e.g., steel-toed safety boots, safety glasses/goggles, etc.
  • Overtime as required
  • Hazards associated with the trade
  • Work both indoors and outdoors
